Even when all seems hopeless, God protects the humble. Bad things may come and disaster may fall, but God will always make provisions for those who are earnestly His. He does not leave us out to dry, despite what we feel. God cannot forsake us. It is against His nature. I may be getting people confused, but I think God had made some sort of promise to the king before Zedekiah that if he humbled himself, he would be spared. Low and behold, not to long after he was taken into captivity and thrown into prison, he was released, graciously it says, and allowed to eat at the king's table. Not a bad turn of events, huh? This is God. He may not work on our timetable but He is always working. He is keeping promises. He cannot forget.
Just a little reminder in case you're in the pits...
Lord, lift the spirits of Your beloved. Give the hope for the work You are doing. Let us not forget Your mercies each day as we go about life. Give us fresh mercies today, though we don't deserve it. Lord, how gracious You are to hear us. How gracious You are to love us. We want to love You in return. Hallelujah! The Lord is good.
Amen. Amen. Amen.
