Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or dismayed before the king of Assyria and al the horde that is with him, for there are more with us than with him. With him is an arm of flesh, but with us is the Lord our God, to help us and to fight our battles.
It doesn't say to help us with our battles or to give us courage to fight our battles, but God will fight our battles. He doesn't need us in order to triumph over evil, so when evil comes our way, He will defeat it. If you look at all the stories in the battle where God was victorious in battle, it's always a story of the few against the many. Of something impossible or strange happening that lets God's people be victorious. And after all of these moments, the passage usually reads something like, "God did this so they would know it was His doing and not something they could've done alone." Because really, what can we do alone?
That's God's MO. He likes to do things that are difficult to explain so that His people won't doubt. We doubt anyway because we are ridiculous, but He never gives us reason to question Him, not even for one minute.
Lord, let me see Your hand working today. Let me see Your miracles. Let me continue in humility and grace. I need Your grace today. Have mercy on this sinner!! Whatever may pass and whatever lies before me, let me be singing when the evening comes. Give me just enough strength to live for today and take away all my worries about tomorrow. I love teaching!
Amen. Amen. Amen.
