Who would be left?

I can't even imagine a day of judgement from the Lord. I can't imagine living through a time where He has decided to punish the people. The anxiety and depression all around. I don't even know what that would be like.

Yet this is what happened to Israel. God poured out His wrath on His people. Only a remnant remained that hadn't participated in all the sin. I imagine that was a very small percent. Think about our society. How many people are righteous enough to not be cast out? Very few. How many are righteous enough to actually deserve no punishment? Somewhere around none.

Praise the Lord for the cross. If you ever wonder why we need a cross, look at the punishment of Israel in the Old Testament (I think I just had an epiphany). No wonder all these old prophesies are still in the Bible; they point to how unrighteous we are and how much we need Jesus. Praise God.

Lord, be my meditation today. Let me seek You with each thought. Let my actions be guided by Your will. Let me focus on Your heart and Your Spirit. Let me discern what You are doing. Guide me. Have mercy on this sinner today and lead me in Your ways. Guide me in righteousness and joy!

Amen. Amen. Amen.
