It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.
What's cool about this verse and the verses around it is that they are all in guess where? Lamentations. In the middle of complaints about the punishment Israel is suffering comes this wonderful passage about God's faithfulness. I think the take-away here is that we can never forget who God is in the midst of whatever it going on. God isn't really in the business of long-term punishment like this anymore, but it is still vital to wait on him and his salvation. He will come and He will rescue His chosen. He does not leave us to ourselves forever. He does not let His chosen suffer forever. That's the promise of the Gospel. That God has come to rescue us from the punishment of our sins.
Father, send your mercies to us. They know no end! Praise You that You will never cast us off or leave us. Praise You for Your unending mercies. Father, You are so good!! Let my thoughts be on You today. Let me bring You glory.
Amen. Amen. Amen.
